Korrelation
A hybrid landscape that changes under the feet of passers-by and visualizes the traces they leave behind.
The interactive installation focuses on the human impact on a speculative ecosystem. Divided into two phases, it transforms the street into an abstract aquatic and scientific data landscape, thematising water as one of the most precious resources on our planet and drawing our attention to the close relationship between humans, nature and technology.
Produced for “Seasons of Media Arts” Festival – Karlsruhe 2020
As part of the Elektron Festival – Esch-sur-Alzette 2024
Under the topic Cyper Structures: Material Realites – Digial Experiences the work reveals the Alzette river that flows beneath street level, making visible the river that gives its name to the city of Esch-sur-Alzette. The Alzette springs near Thil in France, crosses through Esch largely underground, before reaching Luxembourg City, Mersch, and Ettelbruck, where it flows into the Sûre, a tributary of the Moselle, which in turn feeds the Rhine, one of Europe’s backbone axis. The Alzette connects the city and Luxembourg to the vast political, social and cultural network of Europe. KORRELATION gives this connection a tangible, playful and interactive form.
